Has anyone ever used acetone to clean their hull/deck. I have some nasty black "stains" from tarp that just don't want to come off. I've used acetone once in the past and it worked great. I'm wondering if it will damage fiberglass if used frequently. Thanks !!

No problem

No problem w/ the acetone. It will however clean the wax away as well.

Yes to Acetone

I just used it to clean the glue residue from under my old registration stickers which i had scraped off to apply the new ones. After cleaning I used a little fiberglass restorer/wax to reseal before laying down the new numbers. If you have cheese-cloth use it. It lets the contaminates you're buffing off into the weave to the cloth does not load up. For a small job a rag or paper towel will do. Do not let heavily soaked acetone rags lay on the fiberglass for long periods.

Be VERY careful. Acetone burns very easy. I use wood bleach for most of my cleaning. It contains oxalic acid which when added to hot water is great for cleaning soot and leaf stains. It may work on your problem.
