Access to Mixing Elbow 3GM30FC

So I am looking at replacing my mixing elbow as well as the union and elbow that mounts on the engine. Mine is rusted beyond belief due to a small leak in the raw water hose that went unchecked.

Anyway, my question is access to the back of the engine. I have a 35.5 Legend and the backside of the engine compartment in the Aft cave looks like there is no way to access it. I am suiting up for a struggle, as I know the bolts are rusted as well.

Is there better access other than the contortionist moves to access it from the sides and from above? If there was a way to get the back wall off it would be excellent access. However, I think it looks pretty well integrated into the structure.

Any ideas or thoughts on this?

I don't know your boat. I don't know if you could open a hole there or not to work on it. Some sailors have installed deck plates to access areas for repair or maintence,

I replaced our mixing elbow and the dealer was able to get me the whole thing at a discount. It was returned by a boat manufacturer to Yanmar as they needed a different design. It was discounted about 30% if I recall.

Good luck, Bob
