Here is a picture I said I would post of my morning spent racing against Shamrock V just outside of Newport, the background is Brenton Point State Park. Winds were dead out of the south ranging from 20 to 25 knots or more. Seas were about 4 to 6 feet and larger as we approached the shallow waters near brenton reef. Plus if you are familiar with the funnel effect waves really build as they funnel into the channel between Jamestown and Newport. The resolution of the picture is a bit poor due to the technology of the digital camera at the time 1 MP but if you zoom out it looks ok. The scale is the little yellow dot near the bow is a person. Shamrock was in dirty air to leeward of me (I was in my O'Day 35} so she split off to the left to get clear air and looking for a favorable shift. I headed southwest towards Pt. Judith to go home when I decided the race was over and I had won by a wide margin. Best regards to all Dave
