I just finished putting in air in my 37c. I used a marrine airrrr unit. 16,ooo btu. It will frost your cookies after it runs a while. At 95 degress and 90 percent humidity it took an hour or so to get it real comfortable and down to about 75 in a few hours. Im pretty happy with the deal. Put the unit in the aft cabin lower locker, Had to move the shelf down a few inches. then i ran the ac duct under the main panel out side of the the nav station. then out behind the port bunk then up thru a vent behind the sliding door above and behind the bunk. I just put a 45 degree vent there, it blows out and up across the celing in the main salon. Im waiting to see if i will put a duck forward or aft, but i dont think i will. The boats overall humidity goes way down and then ist ok pretty much everywere in the boat. I too would like to get it to run and a 2000e honda but we will see when i get around to it. Im a happy guy, Thanks to Ed S again for good advice on the install.

Finally, Ed's boat is cool!!

Seems like it is time Ed since I have had mine cooled for seven years and was on cold Lake Erie(Ed is on Tampa Bay). Sounds like a fine install but I don't think a 16K will ever run with a Honda 2000 generator. I think your next project should be to move the water heater and install a Panda. :) The best part of having the A/C is after sailing and docking to go below and cool down BEFORE flaking and covering the main. Then going back down for a cold beer AFTER flaking and covering the main. Most of our readers wouldn't understand what with all those furling mains out there. Would that I had A/C on my centerboarder after not only the main but also the jib and then covering the whole boat. I hope your Marine Air gives you the excellent service that I have had with my 12K Mermaid. Be sure to close the inlet while sailing so that you do not lose prime to the pump. Might drive down to NC next week for some Pamlico Sound sailing.

The first thing I do when I get to the dock after

securing the dock lines is to pick up the electrical cord which is sitting coiled up in a pilon (no I don't shut the power off) and hook up the shore power so I can turn the A/C on. As Ed mentions, one of the pleasures of life is to get to working and stop and enter that cool cabin to grab a cold one.

a/C install

Congrats on the install, I also have a 16700 BTU unit in my hunter 30 and you could hang meat in there sometimes. I have seen outide temps in the 90's and remain a cool 73 in the salon. Only problem is that my honda 2000 just wont handle the starting surge of amperage for the compressor, water, pump and fan. however , Honda makes a 2500 watt unit that gives you the amperage to run it. it retails for abt $699 i think but is a few pounds heavier. I am looking into building a cage on my stern to keep the generator onboard all the time. i,ll try and find the link for you.

2500 honda

The problem with the 2500 honda is that its too bulky to loud and runs a conventional 4 cycle. the 2000 series runs with out the noise. very quiet... small easy to handle units;

i will try to get some pictures and info up

The unit is made by dometic and sold as Marine airrr or cruise air, and is 16k reverse cycle. It features a new fan desing with more power and less noise, the fan can be rotated the tightend up so you can send air up right or left easliy.
