My main circuit breaker on the AC panel has 2 lights - labeled "Circuit Breaker" and "Polarity". The Polarity light is wired between the neutral and ground wires and would light if there was a reverse polarity condition. The "Circuit Breaker" light is wired between the hot and neutral terminals of the breaker so it should light when the main breaker is turned on. When connected to shore power with the breaker on, it doesn't light. I connected a Honda generator to my shore power input (using a Marinco adapter)and the indicator light works. Tests with a volt meter do not show any problems. Does anyone have a similar panel and, if so, does the light work when plugged into shore power?

Go to any hardware store and get

a plug-in outlet tester. They have three lights on them and indicate open neutral, open ground, hot and neutral reversed and several other permutations that I don't remember offhand. They can save your life!

Funny you should say

the other day that light was on and it caught my eye. I am plugged into "shore power" (still on the hard.......grrrr)....it is usually not on actually never on though. I have not seen it since and just attributed it to fine beer and "I must of done something wrong" that day. Can't wait to hear what it is Greg

I have a Pearson 37 with the same panel, I think, and my Polarity light has never come on that I know of.

The polarity light didn't come on, it was the

light labeled "Circuit Breaker". The Polarity light should never come on - if it does it indicates the hot & neutral wires of the shore power are reversed - which can be dangerous (hence the warning light). A few years agoI was at a marina in OH when someone was electrocuted when he dove into the water and touched a metal part of his boat that should have been grounded but was hot because of reversed wires. The circuit breaker light is wired between the hot and neutral so, unless I'm missing something, it should be on whenever the circuit breaker is on. I'll try to do some more tests this weekend. The Pearson manual is silent on the indicator lights. Greg, sorry to hear you're still on the hard - how's the project going? Hope you make it in soon.

Bad light

Blue Eyes I called the company today and they said the light is bad and I can get a replacement. It should work all the time the a/c is turned on and you are plugged in, according to a tech. I'll let you know what happens.......... Greg
