We just bought a 1998 411. Love the boat, but when we plug into shore power we cannot get the AC panel to light up unless we also have the batteries on. Is this just the way the boat is wired or do we have an electrical issue?
We only have 15 amps at the dock so we have a brand new adapter to take the boat from 30 to 15.
Tka!

Sounds like you have an inverter that takes battery DC to Panel AC when energized. Note that if you have A/C you have a second 30amp leg, shore power connector, and panel. You will need to plug up the house panel to get power to the house.

I would imagine your electrical system is not designed to operate off of 15 amps. I would not consider plugging my 393 into a 15 amp outlet. Are there two 15 amp outlets available that you can adapt into one 30 amp with a reverse splitter? That would probably be better!

I've run 15 amp service into the house line (not a/c) a few times and have not had issues. I've done this both at the dock and on the hard on my 423

The primary purpose for running the service was to keep the changer and outlets on. You should be able to power up the house circuits unless you have a very high load - hot water heater. Etc

Try turning the 110 breakers off and seeing it you get service (should have an indicator light)

My Blue Seas AC Panel lights are DC powered - do you have AC to the circuits but the lights just do not work unless DC is turned on? I wired the AC Panel lights (fused DC) directly to a non switched battery buss bar to bypass the battery switch.
