Has anyone devised a way of effectively draining the condensate pans. My 420 has 2 units and each one of them are not completly draining due to the drain fitting. The fitting entrance is about a 1/4" off the bottom leaving that residual to sit. My Marine Air units are polyurthane painted steel according to the factory and after only 2 years are showing rust residue. Also I don't understand why Marine Air doesn't make these pans from stainless. They tell me to elevate the end without the drain with shims, since the unit is capable of running at an angle as high as 30 degrees. I have done that and it has helped somewhat, but not to the point where I am satisfied. I am sure I am not the only one out there having this problem. I would sure like to hear some suggestions.

Mermaid Suction Device

Mermaid makes a Condensator that sucks the water from the pan and empties through the A/C water cooling system. You can see a drawing of it on their web site: http://www.mmair.com/product/Condensator.asp While it lists for $150 through mermaid, you can buy it through West Marine for $100. It is West Marine part number 1565589.

Condensator?

Jim pointed you to the Mermaid condensator which I have on my boat. But I do not think it has enough suction to pull the water from below the drain. My pan(stainless) always has water in it. As soon as the water level is below the TOP of the drain port it is sucking air. So the only way to keep it dry would be a new drain. It would have to be a hole in the bottom and in a corner. Then with shims you could get most of it at least. Good luck.
