Reading Ricky's question about neutralizing acidity got me thinking. Why is it that something like a swimming pool solution to balance ph can't be used in a boat holding tank? Can you explain please.
Waste, clean fresh water, sea water and household bleach all have about the same pH: between 7 and 9. Otoh, white vinegar, which is highly acidic (has a pH of 4)--is non-corrosive. It's other bio-chemical properties in urine that make it so corrosive.
