Sad event to loose a talented sailor. You are so correct Mother Nature can be cruel. It is clear from the article he will be missed by friends and family.
I share your grief.

As I get older, this stuff seems to happen alot. I am sorry for the loss. I wish every one here to go with a little thought that i try to live by. "Seize the Day"! You just dont know. Alot is going on right now. Headed to the boat tomorrow. Planning to live life to the fullest.

Be well

It is sad, indeed. I wish he had been wearing a PFD of some kind - at least a belt pack, better an inflatable harness. I'm about that age, and I'm going to start wearing my PFD more often.

Very sad. My heart goes out to his family and friends.

I have fished Dillon Reservoir. It is a truly beautiful place. Hard to imagine how quickly it can go from such tranquility to such violence.

Paul was a good friend of mine. And Jodi's. He was at WYC twice last year and we hung out at the commodore's house at the J/22 NA party for a long time. What a huge loss.

No need to carry on about the PFD. He normally wore one, and the 'what if' conversation only hurts people who knew him.

No one's "carrying on" about anything, just making an observation.
Not a directly commentary re you. Just trying to cut it off. FYI to all, The Star class regs says a crews PFD must be within reach if not worn. Its a physical boat, and most crew take them off after a race.

There but for the grace of God go I.
