Well, I just want to thank you all for all the info that you gave to me about the cat 25 that I own.. She had her maiden voyage yesterday here in south west Florida, and what a day for it. nice winds about 10 mph no chop to speak of (except for stink potters) for an older boat she handles like a dream. Now I remember why I love sailing so much. Am heading out again here in ten minutes. I hope that you all enjoy your weekend and happy sailing.. Robert sv Resurrection

Sure

She is a 1978 catalina 25 In pretty good condition. just needs a bit of fiberglass touch ups now but nothing that I can't do in my spare time and it is nothing that is life threatening to the boat. okay here is the shocker.. she had a brand new st 100 new GPS two new VHF's three anchors, a evinrude 9.9 elcetric start yachtwin, magma bbq grill. and alot of other nice toys. and for all this I paid 2 grand. I just fell into the boat. The guy had a stroke a few years ago and she just sat there. At the time I was looking at a Roberts 29 in the next slip. wanted the Roberts but the fellow would not work with the price after the survey came back with a number of unknown problems to the owner. saw the 4 sale sign on the cat 25 and called the owner right there in front of the guy. sounds cruel but I was not about to pay 10 grand for a boat that need another 10 grand into it and then only be worthe 9 grand in the end. I have sailed on a number of catalina's so I knew what to expect for the most part. I do know that she is one of the best sailing boats that I have ever had. well at that I will end this lil note to you.. But please tell me about your sailing time here on the harbour. always like to hear about other peoples sailing in my area.. until then take care.. Robert sv Resurrection

Hey Rich

Rich where do you sail out of now?? Well it sounds like you still got a good buy on your catalina you are looking at. Has a few things I dont but want. I hear ya I don't like that blue either, mine is the same color.... I am going to change it soon I think. was thinking more of a hunter green color for her.. as for her non skid. I think it skidded off the boat years ago, lol. that is next on my things to do list. I cheat when it comes to doing that. I get a gallon or two of good latex paint tape it all off, then put on a heavy layer of the paint. then sprinkle some fine sand on it while it is still wet. I then let it dry and then either vacu. all the extra sand off or blow it off. then put another layer of paint over the top of it all. I find it works very well. but dont try to move around on you backside on it, it will shred a bathing suite pretty fast and make you red lol. Well I am off to do some work on her.. hope you had a good weekend. take care. Robert sv Resurrection

Home Sweet Home

It's in Bradenton now. I was thinking of moving up to New Port Richey but the Marina is great and cheaper in Bradenton. 30 min from Tampa Bay, owner said I could get to Egmont Key in an Hour. Could make trips to St. Pete pier for concerts and Clearwater for the same. Good location. Let me know how the paiting goes. I was thinking of Gray on the non skid. Can I do it with standard Latex paint without the sand? I don't need the non-skid properties, just the look. Hunter green sounds good but all my covers are Dark Blue. How do I paint the Hull? Bet it's an expensive mess to do it right. The bottom paint is only about 6 months old so maybe I'll live with it untill the next painting. If I can cover the Baby Blue on the Deck I'll be Set! Going out on a sea trail this weekend then closing the deal. Rich

Good luck on the sea trial

I hope it goes well for you this weekend. :) The hull color I guess I got lucky with because my sail covers are white. if you are not going to put the sand down I would not worry abou the kind of pain that you use. just use something that wont get messed up from the salt water to easy. when I go to paint my boat I am going to cheat a bit. My friend has a huge boat lift and I am going to do like he did last year. put the boat on to the lift bring it way up high let her dry, clean the hull up nicely make sure she is fully prepared to to be preped for the painting, Then I will put a very large tarp under her to catch any mess that may fall. just have to make sure it is water proof to catch any liquads. Did you happen to know if she has a pop top canvas?? let me know if she does. How is the sailing up that way?? never sailed there yet. I am hoping to take a week or so off in the spring and try to go up that way. Or I may go down the coast to the keys... I have a few friends here in the area with boats close to my size that want to run to key west. but they are all couplse and I am a single hander so those long runs that they do will do me in. lol But ya got to love that autopilot :) How did you post that pic that you had in the listing?? I have been wanting to post a few but I have no clue how... Okay that is it for now. Again I hope it goes well for you this weekend take care.

Saturday at Sea

Robert, Went out Saturday and I feared we wouldn't have much wind. WRONG! 15 knot steady wind from 1-4 pm. The Manatee River is a mile wide and 12 feet deep so right out of the marina we put up the main sail. moved along well...but I had to she how she handled in some decent wind. Rolled out the Jenny. The Roller Furling is awesome. So much more sail, 155% jenny. 45 min out to Tampa Bay we had a some 2-3 ft waves and got some spray on the bow and Jib. Love this boat. The 15 hp Honda is practically new and is a beast. So much more stable than my friends Hunter 23. Closing the deal Saturday and she is mine! To post a picture look for the "new" with the box to check. It will allow you to browse you computer for the picture and upload it if it's under 80?kb. Here is my direct email to keep in touch. rmorgan2@tampabay.rr.com Maybe one day we can meet halfway. Though the Keys sounds like the direction you need to go. More Margaritas and Less Blue Hairs :) Rich "Pride n Joy"
