I've been following Matt since last summer when he was sailing the Northwest Passage. I doubt there's many people who could do what he has done. 310 days non stop and no human contact on a 27' boat.

I've been following this too and it is quite an accomplishment in a small boat both through the Northwest and around the horn......glad all worked out and Matt got home safe

Yes. Speaks pretty well of the build and design of the Albin-Vega 27' boat he took around the Americas although the St. Brendan looks pretty beat up now. The boat had some serious barnacles growing on it and I'm sure the same could be said for her skipper.

That is a very tough man and an equally tough boat. Lets remember this the next time someone wants to know how big a boat they need.

Matt was just coming in the Severn River as I was going out Saturday. There was an armada of boats going along with him, complete with (DNR?) boats with the flashing blue lights. A "Welcome home Matt" banner was being flown overhead. His story and picture was front page news in the Sunday Capital Gazzette.
