Hi Peggy, I have been following up on the recommendations you made in a discussion early last December. One of the items you suggested using was SeaLand Odor Safe Hose. Is this hose stamped with this identification?

It's the same hose, but...

It no longer carries the SeaLand brand name. This should explain it: http://www.aussieglobe.com/avs96.htm

I'll tell you later what it is stamped

I have about 40 ft left over out of a 50 foot roll. I will post when I get home and tell you what it says...Tim Welsh H34 AKA Cabo Wabo

here's what it says

odorsafe plus-for sanitary waste only-see warranty info-use no alcohol or solvents-italy-1203. that is what is written on the hose in a ring about every 16 inches. Works great. email me if you need some of the leftover hose. I just bought it about a month ago sail060468@aol.com

Aha...you've told me something I didn't know

I knew that SeaLand had told their dealers that they planned to find a new supplier for "OdorSafe" when they lost their contract with the Aussie mfr, but didn't know who, or when their "new improved" Odorsafe would be available. If you've bought some, it means it is. And it happened quickly, too. I'll be watching for test results with a lot of interest. Till I see some, I think I'm gonna keep recommending the Aussie hose, which they're now selling direct as "Odorfree." How stiff is the new "OdorSafe Plus" compared to "original" OdorSafe?

Thanks Peggie and Tim

Your two posts help explain what I was hearing. It looks as if now there is the original type of Australian hose under a new name and a new type of hose under the SeaLand name. Thanks for the trouble that you both took. My dealer who is many miles away was indicating problems in getting the original oder safe hose - I need to look at what he now has - apparently it is a hose used for chemical transport - however I would like to know its heritage and see the specifications (and need to see it for myself).

Use only hose rated for sanitation use

Waste and chemicals have different properties...that a hose is rated for chemical use is no guarantee that waste won't permeate it. There are quite a few sources for the Australian "Odorfree" hose now...if you can't find one, get back to me. Or, you could go with the new SeaLand "OdorSafePlus." From what I understand they're the same price.

Bring me a piece next time you come to LR?

About a foot, maybe 18". I haven't seen it yet. Besides, now that the weather is warming up, I have a great way to test it: some "samples" from the cats' litter box along with some water, plug the ends and leave it outside. If it doesn't stink by the end of August in the kind of heat we get here, it's not gonna stink on a boat for years, if ever! :)
