A New Sailor in the Making

Took the 8 year old grand son out this afternoon in my Macgregor 26.
We'd had him out a couple time last summer but the wind was very light on those days.
Today we had a bit of wind on the lake. Reef in the main and the small jib, got to "wash the windows" a few times and he was just eating it up. Did a pretty good job at the helm when the wind layed down on us for a while.

WOW.....that is great.... my grandkids are too busy for me and sailing.... so I do not have anyone to sail with or teach sailing to... It is wonderful you have a sailing buddy...

Sadly he's probably learned those basics from mom and dad already. Kids today.

He does have a fair handle on port, starboard, fore and aft and seems to grasp sheets and halyards, Jib and mainsail and tiller and rudder. My sailing club has a youth program I'm hoping to get him into this summer.

Wonderful pic of the grandson! We have one who loves to sail also. Other grandpa is a power boater, but this lad likes the wind.....whoooeeeeee!

Just love taking my grand kids out. This is my 9 year old granddaughter sailing us across San Francisco Bay.
