I posted a note about stern seats and teak. I have gotten a lot of info. on how to finish teak. Suggestions for Cetol, Helmsman from Minwax, etc. I wrote Minwax and asked them. They wrote back and said since teak was so high in oil content, they did not have a product that they could really recommend, so that let out the Helmsman spar varnish which is what I used. The finish came dark brown, like oak. I'll wait 6-12 months and do it again. Minwax did recommend to contact www.waterlox.com. so I did. this is what I'll use next time. The waterlox people came across real positve. Their product is waterlox original marine finish. Good luck.

Teak

I replaced the teak slats on the stern seats on my 356 with Plasteak. It was a simple job as the material works just like wood and the cost was much less then the cleaners, varnish, etc. that I would have to buy over the life of my ownership. Even better is that the only cleaning I have to do can be done with a hose.

More detail please

Steve, I have been thinking about doing the same thing. Could you give us a few details. What product did you use? Did you round edges? Do you have any pictures?
