I have a few questions about the C-22. I have extensive experience sailing a 16ft sailboat, but very little in anything bigger. My first questions is about the boom vang...What type of tension should I have on the vang, and when would I change that amount, I would assume that you would adjust it for different situations, but I am curious what those are? Second, The keel seems to bang back and forth ONLY when the keel is all the way up, as soon as I go 1 rotation down, this goes away, and never in the down position, is this normal, or is this that bad, or am I going to lose my Keel in a week??? Third, I guess I want to know what the limitations to the C-22 are, obviously, there would be no limitations in a lake, however, can the C-22 be used for any ocean uses, and what would those be limited to? Does anyone have any examples of ocean cruising in a C22?

reply to questions

I have taken my C-22 from Miami to Palm Beach and from Miami to Key Largo without any problems, but I had places to "hide" if things got rough. I am a lake sailor on the smae C-22 now and have sailed with winds in excess of 35 and had no problems there either (reefed main and storm jib). The keel does "rock" in the up position and that appears to be the norm. When down please consider locking it so that nothing is amiss. If you know you are going to beach the boat or be in shallow water then unlock it. Hope this helps.
