Also interested

Dave , I too am also interested in installing A/C on my 85 28.5. I was considering the cruisair carry on untill someone told me that it was too cold in the v berth with the unit installed in the main hatch ( the only hatch big enough ).Am now looking at the "suitcase" style, anyone know what they are like? Thanks and Good luck, Don P.

portable a/c for 28.5

I installed a museum type of portable a/c unit which I purchased at Home Depot. This unit is made by Fedders and is 6500 btu. It vents though a dryer vent hose which I pass through my vent in the samll center hatch and the drain hose runs into the bilge. The system works great and fits perfectly between the table and the v-berth, if you take the spacer cushion out. The system does not have to be moved to sail. Its about as close as you can get to an installed system, which is still portable and can be easily removed for whatever reason... like reducing weight when racing.
