I was just cruising the Photo Forum and saw the pictures sent by Clay Thaxton on 04/29 showing the installation of a Mermaid M5 AC unit in an H260. Clay - how much did the unit & hardware cost? If you had it installed professionally, would you mind sharing the breakdown of the total cost (unit & labor)? Thanks! Bruce

Mermaid M5 AC Unit Installation

Hello Bruce, The Mermaid M5 AC Unit cost approximately $780.00 for the main unit and about $220.00 for the installation kit. You can visit Mermaid's web site for the break down of materials. I purchased everything from Defender. They had the best price. I installed the unit myself. It took about four days for the total install. If you follow the instructions that Mermaid includes it goes pretty smooth. I did have a foot scoop for the pump installed at American Marine & Sail. The unit works great. I have a Honda EU2000i generator and plug it in to the shore power inlet and can be cool where ever we anchor. About the hardest thing to do for the installation was to take everything out of the boat and find the time to dedicate four days for the installation. Just kidding! I hope this helps. Sail On!
