A/C for 85 H31

The A/C in my boat is in the space below the aft setee of the dinette. A through-hull was placed for the water intake and another for the exhaust water. The warm air intake faces forward. The cool air exhaust blows to midships. My unit is a Mermaid. This cools so well, I must use a sleeping bag, even on the Gulf Coast.

A/C in a 1987 31 footer

This last year I installed a 16,000 Mermaid in my 31. The late 86 and 87's have a somewhat different settee configuration than the earlier 31's but I have my compressor positioned under the aft settee. It is supplied by a 10"x14" register (center settee position), and blows cold through both a 6"x8" angled register in the main salon and a 4" circular vent in the V-berth. Fresh water is supplied by "T-ing" into the head fresh water supply (I didn't want another thru-hull) usinf a check valve. I have a reverse cycle system, which has been performing flawlessly here on the West Coast of Florida. The A/C at the slip does a remarkable job keeping the interior clean (NO MILDEW)... It Really increased our summer cruising season. If you'd like more info on my configuration, drop me a return e-mail... Madeiroe@tampabay.rr.com Good Luck, Bob
