Anybody out there have any advice on using a Mermaid Condensator to keep air conditioning condensate from draining into the bilge? I'm considering one for my H356, but would like to hear how others view this gizmo. Pete s/v "Sh'boom" (H356 #53)

Condensator

The condensator works fine. Mine sucks condensate directly from the pan under the air conditioner, but you might consider letting the air conditioner continue draining into the bilge and use the condensator to suck the bilge dry. It will take out everything that accumulates there keeping it fairly dry and maybe cleaner-smelling.

Shower Sump System?

Pete: Attwood and Rule both make sump systems that you may be able to install in your bilge. These can be used to capture the shower, ice box and A/C drainage all into one place. This leaves your bilge dry (unless you have another leak).

Rule

I've got the Rule sump box in my 37.5. I put the A/C drain line and my watermaker brine line into it. It keeps my bilge bone dry. I made an aluminum "L" bracket to keep it from shifting around. Jim "Esmeral"

Almost a "no-brainer".

Almost because it depends upon the location. On my boat it would be difficult to get the drain hose from the condensation pan to the sump box. So the condensator made perfect sense and works like a charm. But if you have easy access to a sump I like the idea of the fridge, shower, and A/C all draining there.
