A/B cycling time

We have two separate A/B cold machines installed on our 2002 Hunter 456. The freezer portion has worked flawless since the boat was commissioned in Jan 2002. My question has to do with the refrig part. After about 3 months this unit quit cooling, apparently lost freon and has since been recharged by the marina. No leaks were detected using a Freon sniffer. The compressor cycles on ever 30 sec’s, then runs for maybe 20 sec’s. This pattern of short cycling numerous times continues until the unit runs for perhaps 2-3 hours. Then the pattern begins again. The load is about 4 amps. Voltage is 12.8V. We leave the unit on during the week while we are gone and the battery charger is also on. I installed a recording thermometer and found the unit goes from 32min to a 52max temperature. This range is when nobody opens the compartment and no icing on the coils. I believe there is an air leak at the bottom of the vertical door and I will confirm this weekend with an infrared thermometer My question is this normal and expected cycling and temperature range? not normal

Dear Sue and Joel, the operation of your refrigeration system is not "normal". The temps should remain in the upper 30's to low 40's. It sound like you have a defective thermostat. Please call our customer care department and we'll arrange to have it replaced.

Gary, this might be different problem

I have had the same problem with my units as well. The controller kicks out to due to high voltage (14 v) from the charger. The Danfoss controller is supposed to go up to 16v, but I found this was not the case. By the way Gary, you guys have excellent service. Art Boas
