A-B Compressor Leak

Ned Strain

Over the winter, something gave way and it appears that all the oil leaked out (a lot) from the compressor. If I replace the compressor, must I also bleed and recharge the lines? Ned Strain s/v Family Therapy '95 H336 Chicago

Yes, but please remember

Ned, Yes you will need to have your refrigeration system serviced in the following manner: 1) reclaim any residual refrigerant, if still under pressure, 2) install new compressor, 3) leak-check, 4) pull vacuum on system, 5) charge with required inventory of refrigerant. But please remember that this service must be supplied by a qualified and EPA certified air-conditioning and refrigeration technician. Tim
