I'm upgrading to a 4 cycle 9.9 for my MacGregor 26. I'm leaning toward the Mercury extra long Big Foot. Curious about other brands though before I spend that much. Anybody have ezperience with this model or other brands on a 26?

Honda 9.9

I have a 1999 Honda 9.9 on my M25. It runs like a top, is quiet, and has electric start and alternator to recharge the battery. It is very good on gas and plenty of power. I once used it to tow a 21' Cuddy cabin behind my boat when he lost power. It certainly wouldn't have won a race but it did move 46 feet of boat with six people aboard. All in all, I have been very impressed with this motor.

Tahatsu 9.8

Get the Tahatsu 9.8 with electric start and Alternator. quiet and talk about the gas mileage. We put 10 hrs on the engine and only used just under half of a 3 gallon tank. It is also one of the lightest engines on the market. it will cost you about $2100 but is worth it.
