88 Beneteau First 285 Rudder

I have noticed bubbles on my rudder, and it appears that the bubbles have water in them. I can not tell yet if the water is in the rudder, or just under the paint on the rudder.
I may have to remove the rudder to do the proper repair.
Does anyone out there have any experience with The 285 rudder dis-assembly?

Are there any drawings of the rudder assembly available?

i too have noticed that there is water inside my rudder.. I think its penetrating from the top where the steel rod starts to go through the glass.. its my understanding that it is very common, not to say that it is ok or a good thing, but common.. I look forward to hearing what some of the other replies say..

We had water in our rudder about 4-5 years ago. It created a crack in the rudder from freezing. We took the rudder to a yard in Windsor and they opened up the rudder and then re-sealed it. We now drill a 1/4" hole in the bottom of the rudder every fall to drain out the water and have not had any problems since. We just plug the hole with sealant every spring and drill out the same hole in the Fall....
