We live and sail around Pensacola, FL and we spent last August sweltering, and we swore then that we'd install an air conditioner this year. We've tried portable units, and have come to the conclusion that they are just too much hassel. I'm looking at a built-in unit mostly for the aft cabin, but I'm willing to do the whole boat. I'm looking for anyone who has some experience regarding brands, and instalation concerns. We have a 3.5kw genset right now, but plan to upgrade eventually. Any help would be appreciated.

Indeed, thay have a thankless job and they do with it a smile under adverse conditions. My koudos go out to them for that. But when I'm on my boat it's not "work." (Even if I'm hanging upside down in the engine room aligning that blankity-blank shaft for two hours!) I can handle the heat, but m'lady is the one I'm trying to please. Cause as we all kknow, when momma aint happy, nobody's happy. And yes I've done a lot of homework. Right now I'm leaning toward Cruisair with Mermaid a close second. What I'm looking for is advice from someone who has actually done the job. Cutting holes in my boat makes me very nervous! Steve
