I posted a while ago that we had a diver push down the swing center board on our HUN23105E585. This is the first time the center board has been down in 10 years. We went out last week in light air, about 10 knots, and then a couple of days ago we went out in 15 to 20. It is a very different boat to sail. It tracks much closer. Before if we were sailing toward a buoy, we would have to fall off and go down wind of it, now that is not true. But the biggest change, is handling the tiller. It used to take a good deal of effort to sail in a strong wind, now it sails with light touch of two fingers. It also is much easier to come about. We feel so dumb, that we were never able to lower the swing center board. I realize there are only a few 1985 Hunter 23s with the swing centerboard. I found a posting by a John Sims suggesting adding 10 pounds of lead to the bottom of the centerboard. We will certainly do that before we put the boat back on the slip next spring. Has any one changed the line that lowers the centerboard so it makes it easier to lower it.? In any case our old Hunter has a new and exciting life! Donald Njaa HUN23105E585

Just goes to show you!

Too bad They didn't put center board on them all. If you want good performance upwind you need a lot of surface area on your keel. Too bad they didn't put a centerboard on that nice new Hunter 25.
