Hey Folks: Can anyone tell me how to get a replacement transom-mounted mast support crutch for my 1985 H-23 (lost by previous owner)? I have the drawing from Hunter, but I prefer to not go through the whole nutroll of getting it fabricated. And is there a source for after-market stern rails? I have a little crew member and would like to mount netting. Thanx. Paul

...for the rails you can go to www.topsinquality.com they say they dont have the measurments for the H-23 so they'll want you to provide detailed dimensions...their dimension guide sheet is a bit complicated. www.catalinadirect.com has a mast crutch for their c-22that is adjustable to any rudder pintles. Its supirior to the stock hunter one, but maybe you want the original. good luck steve sv hotspur

We had new lifelines made for our 86h23 had the bow pulpit reinforced by adding another leg. Had stern stanchions added and then put a lifeline on the back with a pelican hook so you can access the motor, swim ladder ect. We upgraded to a larger stainless steel line and brought the lifelines up so they are the same height all the way back and hook to the new stern stanchions and for everthing it was about $1000. They did an awsome job and it looks like it will look good. Don't have it in the water yet. Rob Morton S/V Euphoria

Some folks here in the forum have fabricated a wooden crutch of 2X4's, you might want to look under the archives. As for the transom rails, we have little ones too so I found the the transom rails for a Capri 22 from cataliina fil fairly well, still had to fashion a base but they look real good installed. Best thing is that a pair back in '95 were about $60.00. You woould call Catalina parts and ask them for the rear stantions for a Capri 22. Good luck, /Chuck S/V Windsongs '85H23

I had one fabricated

It's far superior to the stock crutch and being extendable makes mast raising extremely easy. I posted pictures in the Photo Forum. Peter H23 "Raven"

i have fashoned rear double "stanctions", (like an upside-down "U") to take double lifelines on my h23. i used the modular stuff from jamestown distributers. not cheap and i am still going to add to it and possibly take it up higher to take a solar panal and around the rest of the back with lines and hooks. i'll see if i can post a pic later...i'm at work at the moment.....

this stuff is modular and my intentions are probably to continue it up into a kind of arch for a solar panal and to continue it around back with openings for ladder and motor....possibly with a cable across these openings. its not cheap but sounds to be pretty much competatively priced with custom systems
