My '81 H36 came with original aluminum deck fills, all of which are corroded and in need of replacement. Unlike modern fills they have a female thread on the underside to receive a male threaded hose barb, so the diameter of this part of the fill is significantly larger than a typical modern deck fill with integral hose barb.
As a result, finding a drop in replacement that does not require me to partially fill the hole in the deck to provide something for screws to attach to etc. seems to be a challenge. I don't seem to be able to find a stainless replacement. In fact the only possibility that I've found so far (still not sure of the screw location - have written to Forespar) are the Forespar Marelon fills which have a much larger 4" diameter flange than the typical stainless fills with 3" flange.
Has anybody else faced/addressed this problem?
Any input would be much appreciated.
