spreader caps
Jerry -When I launched this year, the boatyard used some pretty substantial stainless steel wire (maybe 1/32" diameter, or perhaps even 1/16") to bind the shround to the spreader. There is a notch in the spreader, and a hole for a wire to pass through. Mine does not have any grommets, unless you're referring to the hole. In any event, the shroud is held in the spreader notch, and the stainless steel wire is TIGHTLY wrapped 5-6 times around the shroud above and below the spreader, passed back and forth through the hole in the spreader. the ends are wound together a few times using a pigtail splice (like electricians use). It is also important that the angle between the shroud and spreader are equal on BOTH sides of the spreader - meaning that the spreaders are angled slightly upward from horizontal. When they rigged mine, the wire was bound very tightly to the shroud/spreader to really prevent movement. I have spreader boots to cover up the whole arrangement, and the boot ends are taped to the spreader. You should be able to get spreader boots from West Marine, or through www.sailrite.comGood luck with your new boat!Pete
