My 7.5 honda does not want to run at any slow speed. It will quit running at idle ,could it be trouble with a jet?It seems to flood out when you cut back as in approching dock,or running in reverse. Are there any online repair sites? It also seems to run better with the cover off. Thanks Ken

Old fuel?

How old is the fuel? It could be varnished up and causing a problem with the jet. Also, have you or anyone done anything with the motor such as adjusting screws etc. The best trouble shooting procedure is to ask how did it work, how does it work now and what happened in between. Also start with the simplest possible solution before going to the drastic big ones. And also, have you changed or cleaned the spark plug? Is there an air cleaner filter or fuel filter anywhere?

new fuel

New spark plugs, and new fuel.but it may be varnish on the low intake jet from sitting all winter.I adjusted the neddle valve, and idle screw. Not sure how to check intake jets. Ken

gas again!

Sounds like a fuel problem. I had a similar problem last month. Motor ran great and then all the sudden started flooding out iat low speeds. I pulled the carb bowl off to expose the float valve and found plastic crystals in the plunger valve that held it full open. Took all of 10 minutes to fix it ( then added a fuel filter). You also might want to pull the flywheel off and sand the magnet to get any rust off, then regap the magneto and plugs (and points if it is not a CDI). Hope this helps

7.5 Honda

Ken; Sound like the carb float is stuck. A little tap on the side of the carb will unstick it then run some cleaner through it.
