OK, so I have done some research and decided that 6 volt Golf Cart batteries are the way to go. I want to replace the 2 4D Exide house batteries that I have on my 1999 Catalina 36. I would prefer not to have to replace or rebuild my battery boxes and the batteries have to fit hieght wise. My question is what model and brand of battery has anyone used and why? I have a dedicated starting battery. I will not be doing any world cruising or long offshore passages but I want as much battery power as I can get for long weekends or more at anchor. Any suggestions or reccomendations?

Batteries

I just replaced both my house bank and engine strating batteries with gels. They ar more expensive, but last much longer. Couple them with an Link inverter and a high output alternator, and your good to go.

Bob Their website (www.c36.org or www.catalina36.org) has a great writeup about electrical systems. Try a forum archive search on golf cart and you'll get more reading than you can do in a week. Sources here locally should be able to be found on the web at Trojan and other battery makers. I tried Wal Mart last year to no avail, but Sam's Clubs do have them at very competitive cost. Also try the C34 web site's message board, and use their Find feature on golf carts. www.c34.org Stu
