Ahoy, Boys and Girls. I am a longtime S2 6.8 owner that ran into some bad weather. We recently had a tornado pass through our marina. My 6.8 was the sole survivor on a 40 stall dock. All other boats were badly damaged or sunk. The well built S2 however, only sustained cosmetic damage. The aluminum rub rail that covers the hull to deck joint was torn from the boat and bent. If any of you have ideas for a replacement part or can point me to a salvage yard that might have one, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Tacomarine.com carries a lot of rub rails. They don't have the one for my 9.2A, but yours seems simpler and they may have it.

BobM, thanks for the response. I can't find the exact profile. It is a 9 foot section. My other choice, I suppose, is to replace the rub rail on the entire boat. Not ready to go there yet. Jim

Well, not having luck with a replacement. So, I took it to my workshop. I built a straightening jig about 4 feet long. Then I slowly pulled it through several times. A little heat from a torch and some persuasion with a crescent wrench and I have a serviceable piece of rub rail. The worst part is cleaning off the old bedding compound. Plan to reinstall on Friday.

Good Job. Unfortunately an Exciter is an inexpensive ride to go deep into your pockets for some custom rail or to rerail the whole boat.
