Does 5200 adhere well to PVC pipe? Any prep of the PVC needed? The PVC pipe will be bedded in fiberglass and wood.

Sand!

Make sure you rough up the pvc with sandpaper to help the 5200 stick. Bob

What pipe?

What exactly do you plan to embed in wood and fiberglass???

What Pipe

Don't worry; I am not using 5200 for the waste / water systems. (Your posts have been a big help to me in the past; thanks!) I am replacing a rotten compression post in my Hunter 31. I am bedding a piece of PVC pipe that goes through the roof; it's the conduit for the wires coming down the mast and into the cabin.

Once again, why, why, why.

Greg: Once again, why use 5200 here. Any silicone/polysulfide based sealant would work just fine. The purpose of 5200 is for strength (like attaching a keel to the hull). If you check out the West Marine Catalog they show the products that work best for the type of materials that are going to be used with which sealants.

3M 4200 a better choice..

4200 is used to calk items that MAY have to be taken apart at sometime in the future. 5200 is PERMANENT!
