Strongly considering a new boat. A broker is recommending a used 40' Freedom, Sabre or Tartan [ about the same price of a deck out 473 ]. I really like the 473 cabin size. This boat will be mostly sailed by two and yes it will see much bluewater. If possible, I would really appreciate an unbias opinion. Mahalo! Don

473 is a nice boat

We currently have a Bene 361 and look at the 473 as the next boat. I have spoken with several 473 owners and they are very happy. I like the fact that the mast is stepped to the keel. In the 2 cabin version the lazerette has access from the galley and would be a great workshop & dive locker. For ease of maintenance I would go for the aluminum caprail instead of the Teak, although the teak looks better. The new 423 is very similiar in layout to the 473 although it does not have the mast stepped to the keel. The dealer,(St. Barts in Charleston) was excellenet and that made our experience with Beneteau a pleasure. Good Luck.

question

Kevin, Thank you for your response. Have you looked at the Sabre, Freedom or Tartan? Just trying to decide if is better to go with a high quality used an smaller boat vs the 473. Any thoughts? Don
