Vagabond 47 Galveston
Hello All Vagabond Owners,

I am in the process of replacing the chainplates and bolts on my 47" Vagabond Sailboat. Can Can anyone help me with the following?

A. Provide information on (Reinforcing The Hull Structure At The Mast And Chainplates)
I have been informed by the rigging shop that is replacing my chainplates that the forward (Main Mast) chainplates do not have (Chainplate Knees at The Hull). They seem to be concerned about this! The mizzen mast has knees.

B. Recommend a naval architect/engineer in the Kemha/Seabrook TX. area that is an expert in this field.

Any help that you could provide me with would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Steve Chalfant

surveyor

Hi Steve,
I'm looking into vagabond 47 myself.I was at seabrook shipyard and asked about a surveyor familiar with this boat and they gave me a name of a local surveyor.I have since lost the name but if you contact them I'm sure they can point you in the right direction.i would very much like to see your boat and the way the chainplates are mounted.I have a catalina C27 at Marina Del Sol and I'm down there fairly often working on the boat.I plan to purchase a vagabond 47 or possibly a formosa 51 or force 50 in the next few years.I'm also a master mechanic and could give help and advice for diesel and gas engines and electrical systems.I can be reached at 281-851-8607.
Are you by chance the one who bought the vagabond located at Watergate last summer?I noticed that boat had damage to the chainplate area for the main mast on the starboard side.Looked like impact damage. How did you fair through hurricane Ike?
