Couldn't find any real additional information. If I understand it correctly, apparently the rudder failed once before and the second failure was the repaired rudder.Note: the articles refer to a "Hunter Legend 450". There was a Legend 45 but not a Legend 450 (in the US). I believe this is due to the fact there is a British "Hunter" and in Europe the US Hunter uses the name "Legend" so the reporters want to ensure it's known that it was a US Hunter (which would then be a Legend 450) and not the British Hunter that had the problem. The 26-year-old crossed the finish line off the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe at 0216 GMT on Saturday after leaving the French port of St Malo 13 days ago. MacArthur set a new record of 13 days, 13 hours, 31 minutes, 47 seconds for the passage. The previous best time for monohulls was 15 days, 19 hours, 23 minutes, set by Frenchman Yves Parlier on Cacolac d'Aquitaine in 1994...." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/sailing/2504385.stm That's impresive, a 12 year-old record. Ellen was only 14 when the former record was set!
