Went to the Newport show to upgrade to a 356 - only I bought hull #1 of the 426 instead. It has some options that no one would ever use, but others that once you see them they are "a must have". The boat will make one more public apperance at Boston then back to Mystic where she will sleep all winter until a July 1 wake up call. Thanks to all of the kind people of Mystic that showed me their 356's - I still think this is the most bang for the buck and a great boat - but I have always been swayed by a pretty head, and the 426 had two eco-flush models (bad pun, sorry) Ed + Obby Tapley

Good question!

I live all winter in Savannah GA and only will use the boat to cruise/live on in the summer in east coatal areas, Mystic, Block, Cape Cod etc. Then she goes back to sleep for the winter in late September. I may sail her once after the Boston show - but have no use until next summer.

Enjoy!

Enjoy your new boat-which-was-almost-ours! as we seriously looked at it even though we were not seriously looking at anything other than auto-pilots and some new turning block positions. But that 426 really caught our attention as we debate the up-coming retirement, those 45 minutes a couple of years ago when we were financially independent, and the 'do we really want to sell the old homestead and live aboard' eternal question... CONGRATULATIONS - we think she is quite a beauty....what will she be named? Jule & Carl s/v H340 Syzygy

She is Ahbee

The best investment in time and effort I ever made - not sure she got as good a deal. Her name is Obby, but nobody ever knows how to pronouce it so we always say Bobby with no B. The first date I spelled her name Ahbee, it had been a joke, but now years later a special moment - so Ahbee she is! Ed

WOW! Congratulations

My wife and I were on your boat at the Newport show. Absolutly gorgeous! We are giving some serious thought to getting one a year or two down the road (we currently have a 37.5) We were invited to help sail her back from the Boston show to Mystic but can't get the time off. If you have never bought a boat from Sailing Specialties, they are a great bunch. We loved the flat screen TV, and the washer/dryer, and the galley blew us away with the refrig, freezer, The built in pantry. I guess its not hard to tell we LOVED the boat. Good luck with her. PS where in Mystic are you? we are at Brewers. Chris s/v Tidesong

At Steamboat Wharf

We have (not for long) a condo at Mystic -Steamboat Wharf. It has 40 feet of dock, it is one of the investments we own in our company, 3 bedrooms 3 +1/2 baths. It was built out as an executive rental for a client in the area. GREAT spot completly gutted two years ago and totally tricked out with furniture etc. We used it in the summers, but now it is up for sale - some lucky boater will buy it, we live in Savannah and only had a use for it July and August. Now with this new boat we plan on living on it during the 12 weeks we are in the north. SOOOOOO, the condo gets liquidated, and we sail full time while in Mystic. We have bought a boat from sailing specialties in the recent past and have been very happy. Hope to see you around the area. Ed

Relieved you took it off the market

It is a great boat. We are 356 owners and my husband "visited" your new boat in Newport enough times to make me nervous! She is a beauty and I wish you all the best. We look forward to seeing you under sail next summer - my husband will be the one trying to reel you in, but that scooped out bow and the water line length could make it tough!

Super, but someone has to ask...

How much was it? I've heard anywhere from $200 to $250k. Don't be bashful. We have a 410 and the 426 is calling me and making my wife nervous. John Richard s/v Jack's Place

Well - they have an into price

They have introded the boat at 200,000 and claim that it will be 220,000 soon. But that is FOB at FL. This boat has everything you would want and then some. But that said Sailing Specialties gave me a good price. Figure with shipping and commisioning about $211,000. With things you want? Start adding, this boat listed at $281,000, But that is with in-mast furl, gen set, A/C, Shades (these are cool), Iverter, Windlass, Electric winch, eco-flush heads, Alternator upgrade, GPS, Radar, Bimini, Cockpit Cusions, VHF at helm, Washer Dryer, Bow Thruster (a must for short handed docking) 42" wheel, Auto pilot, ST-80 Premier Package, and on and on. great boat
