42 Passage aft shower drain

Our aft shower drain was never connected properly to the drain hose. So I disconnected the drain( it was glued to the shower pan) to get a better idea of what is happening and the drain was not threaded into the 90 elbow on the hose. I tried threading and it appears to be the wrong size. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to correct this issue? The plumbing hose is really difficult to remove and replace. I can not find a drain replacement that fits the threaded elbow. The only option I see at the moment is to cut a hole in the shower pan, attach a fish line to the hose, pull the hose out and replace the hose and then glass the cutout back in....I'd really like to avoid that. Any suggestions?

Long shot: 1) remove the drain fitting and cut the hose at the fitting, 2) insert a 1/2-inch diameter hose inside existing hose and feed it through until it came out the other end, 3) pull the 1-inch hose from the other end and reverse the process with a new hose, 4) replace drain fitting with one that fits the existing hole (take measurements (inches and mm) and send me a PM and I would be happy to search one that fits for you) and do not cut a hole in the shower pan.

Thanks for the rec! I might try that after I hear from Hunter.

If the hose is attached to the elbow ok, but the drain “cover” won’t thread into the elbow, I would put a bunch of sealant on the threads and the flange, and push them together until the sealant dries and the flange is once again glued down to the pan.

It is not ideal, but it shouldn’t leak, and it should drain OK.

Or search hardware stores for a drain that will screw into the elbow…

Thank you for your reply but I'd like to find a solution that will allow the drain to function as designed without relying on sealant. As it is, the water backs up and doesn't flow through the hose but I will search for an appropriate fitting.
