i've just noticed a slight drip of water coming down the aft cabin bulkhead in my 40.5...it's a little hard to describe...the location is where the bulkhead is attached underneath the cockpit bridgedeck, just above the aft engine compartment....have any other 40.5 owners had this leak, and how have you cured it?....thanks for any input....bob s/v reliance

40.5 water leaks

Hey Bob, ...i've got a 40.5 also and by your description (bridgedeck??)it sounds like your leak is directly below the companionway boards. mine does that occasionally if the hatch is not fully closed. i hate to admit it, but once i put the boards in backwards, ...just before washing down the deck. you'll see water down the mirror in the aft cabin. the very first thing i changed when i bought my boat a year ago (it's a '93) was the light fixture at that mirror. it was "rusted-out". i did a search in the archives on 40.5, you'll find most leaks at the mast step and aft bulkhead in the aft cabin. possibly from the steering base area running down to the aft bulkhead. good luck. take care, Jim Vincent Toucan

40.5 leak

jim, thanks for your input...the leak is precisely where you described it, and it may be coming from the hatchboards...i'll check it out...i haven't had the leak in the aft part of the aft cabin, but am working on a slight leak in the mast step, which i am convinced is in the screws....none of this is a big deal, big i like to run down all leaks..bob s/v reliance
