Hauling out soon for bottom and a thru hull for AC. I've been studying older threads on the topic, and THANKS for the pics that have been posted.

A couple of questions:

I've removed the panel above the wine rack and see where I might be able to add the AC discharge near the bilge and port water vent.
Is this where the factory added?
I assumed i would have to lose the wine rack for the main cabin vent but i see Rich's pic of a register above the wine rack. I dont see how there is adequate space for plenum to there?

I also do not see plenum off the cruisair unit?

What am i missing?

If anyone has added recently, please let me know what unit you went with! Space is at a premium under that seat!

Hunter was nice enough to leave the boat plumbed for forward and aft electrical that is left dead behind the panel and comes up where the AC goes:)

Busted,

I am on my 40.5 right now for the next couple of days. If you have needs of specific photos or info, I can get or measure for you. Let me know either here or PM me. My A/C is a Marine Air System unit and is 16KBtu. The compressor is located under the end of the U-shaped table seat next to the garbage bin. If you PM me and send me your phone number and a time to call we can speak and that may be more efficient.

Bustedrudder,
I am not an expert at all about this but I did install a/c in my boat two years ago. I leaned on Rich Stidger for a lot of the preliminaries - especially the location of the thru hull intake for the a/c. You can see where i located the strainer and the a/c pump in one picture. Below it in the keel sump is the thru hull for the a/c. In other pictures you can see the location of the main plenum, the electrical box (under sink). The a/c water outlet is in a direct line with the grey object (condensator). I ran air vents into the rear cabin and forward as well. I'm not sure that I would run the vent to the aft cabin if I had it to do over again.

Bustedrudder,
I bought a Memaid 16.5BTU system from Defender. They had an installation manual which even a dummy like me could follow. I only installed one unit although, two would be better and probably more economical. I really liked the cruise-air units but money and space were a consideration. The neatest install that i ever saw on a 40.5 was a split unit with the condenser in the aft cabin locker and the air distribution part "boxed in" under the companionway steps. It blew into the main cabin, head, and aft cabin.
BTW, after running nearly everything under floorboards and in tight areas it was doubtful that I would ever stand erect again.
