well, i pulled it out today (thanks, Arthur Boas) it was really quit easy. just open up the electrical panel at the nav station and reached around and aft between the wall...and there it was! i honestly had it in my hot little hands in about 5 min.(it's just proped up in there between the wall, my suspicions were correct, it was leaking. but here's the deal, the anti-syphon valve that sits on top of the u-turn was completely missing. it was not screwed to the u-turn, it was simply pushed in & glued, and it popped out,... maybe one day you should check yours? take care, Jim Vincent, Toucan

Thanks, for the 'Heads' up (intentional pun)

I will put this item on my spring commissioning list. Forward head too!

Don't glue it...

Check valves in vented loops are replaceable parts that have a finite life...if you cement it into the valve, you won't be able to replace only the valve. It should thread into the nipple at the top of the loop. So check to be sure it s the right one for that fitting.

....There are NO threads!

...it was smooth & just pushed in with a small spot of glue, terrible design for something like this. i went out and bought a "hole-new-assembly" (u-turn & valve) for $18.bucks! Jim Vincent, Toucan

$18 for 1.5" vented loop AND check valve?

Wow...Best deal I've ever heard of! And the best way to go...that is, if the new one has a threaded nipple. Good job, Jim...you didn't ignore the problem--you went after it early, before it could cause any water damage...and you went for the full fix instead of trying to make something that was there work.
