3rd battery

Has anyone installed a 3rd battery in a Catalina 30? I'm thinking of doing one on my '88 for an extra house battery, positioning it beside the fuel tank and hot water tank situated in the aft storage area, underneath the stern berth. I would then run heavy gauge wire under the floor to the regular house battery in the starboard battery hatch. Any advice?

third battery

I have a third battery in my 88 Catalina just as you suggest. I have two golf carts in the starboard seat locker for the house, and a 12 volt next to the water heater under the quarter berth. Both banks are controlled by a switch on the nav panel. I think this is probably the default system for most 30's? Works for us. Good sailing Ron B
