Just found pictures of a previously discused item. A while back I inquired on how to have an oil pressure sender for my new oil gauge and the original low pressure alarm switch on the 3qm engine. I received great guidence and here is the final result.

I found a two part male adapter fitting kit sold by racing car outfits as a mazda miata oil sending relocation kit..

One male adapter has British Standard threads on the male part and NPTon the female part. The other fitting has NPT on the male part and BS on the female part. Works like a charm exept for the cost. About 30.00 for 2 stupid fittings. I tried to outsource them to no avail so I spent the $$.

A 1/4 stainless braided hose finished the set up. I added a mounting bock on the firewall and presto. Now the engine can shake all it wants, wont be able to dismount this rig.

If by mechanical you mean is it connected to the gauge by a capilary tube that caries oil and pressure, then no. I have an electric unit that sends signal to the gauge via a 18 gauge wire. Much easier to work with.
