I stumbled across this on the Bomar/Gray site. I thought this may be of some interest. There is a product on the market called Anti-Bond 2015 that may help. Anti-Bond 2015 that maybe the solution. Anti-Bond 2015 can be sprayed on 3M 5200 causing it to debond without any delamination of the boat's gelcoat. For more information visit. http://www.lklproducts.com/industri.htm

Saw it used on TV

I saw it being used on the ShipShape TV show. They were removing a Transom extension on a power boat, what they did was to cut the 5200 and spray it liberally with the Anti-bond. They then drove wood wedges between the transom and the extension, re-sprayed and drove the wedges some more. I think it took about 20 minutes and did very little damage to the transom, I think if they had taken it a little slower they would have done less or no damage. Looked like a good product that works. Boat US has it.

Costs about $12 for 4 oz. I used it to remove a depth meter. The 5200 turns rubbery, and you can rub it off with your fingers. Great stuff! Pete Albright S/V Nancy Ross, H30

Mast Removal

This stuff would help remove the sealant around the mast wires where they pass through the deck conduit during a mast removal. We had to do it twice now and used a spoon and a lot of time. Wish we had known.
