I can't find any info in the manual on what this is for. What are they, and what do they do? As always, any help is appreciated.ThanksTom F76 Hunter 30'Hearts Desire'
in the event of battery/starter failure. By pushing the lever, you release some of the compression in the cylinders allowing you to gain momentum while hand cranking...then release lever and hopefully the engine will catch and start.
John: I think there was a decision that you are NEVER going to be able to hand crank one of these engines. What you can do if your batteries are weak, is open all the levers and have someone crank over the engine. Then you can close each lever and the engine should normally start. The levers are on the top of the engine just to the starboard side of the injectors. There will be one for each cylinder. As I remember there is a hole in each lever.
Tom, check the recent discussion on this in the Forum archives. If the link doesn't work, search the archives for "hand crank". In my contribution that thread, I tell what happened when I got a hand crank for my 3GMF as an experiment...
Honestly, who has ever been able to start their engine that way? Has any one? I can not get the strenght to turn it after I let up on the compresion valve. I would think you would have to be tarzan to turn that puppy!Skipper...Eric Stanson
