Last August, Marty Warble posted a picture of his golf cart battery upgrade in the Hunterowners.com photo archive. His solution was, by far, the best suggestion I have found for upgrading the electrical system of a 380. I am in the process of trying to do exactly what he has done but I have run into problems. I DESPERATELY need advice from Marty or anyone else who has followed his suggestion! I have already purchased two of the battery boxes from the company he recommended, but they don't fit flush with the floor of the port settee. Marty said that you need to cut the lip off the top to make them fit, but I can't figure out how you secure them to the floor. I'm afraid that the golf cart batteries will be too tall for the settee top (they're too wide at the bottom to fit flush with the floor). I would greatly appreciate some advice on how to accomplish this. I'd love to have a chance to talk to Marty or anyone else who has done this (please call me collect) or at least hear from you via email. carl, what I did was on my 380 was to dispense with the battery boxes entirely for the same reasons. Instead I glassed in a piece of encapsulated plywood at the forward and aft end of the space where the 4D battery went. I then filled in the spaces between the floor of the compartment and the sides, in essence I turned the entire space into a battery box. I hold the batteries down with nylon straps and cover the positive terminals with rubber boots. This way I fit 4 of the 6V golf cart batteries in the space occupied by the 4D OEM battery.
