Hi All:

Question about rig tuning. A friend lent me a rig tuning gizmo and I though I would set up the rigging. The problem is that I don't know the pressure settings for the rig on the 37C. Any ideas?

There was a discussion about this not too long ago. First it needs to be said that "rig tuning" is much more than just tensioning the wire. And having sailed a 37-cutter for ten years I still have no clue. There is mast rake and mast bend that have to be accounted for. But I do not know the parameters.

Here though are the numbers from the Loos Gauge directions. Your backstay is 9/32" and your shrouds are 1/4". The first number is the wire breaking strength. The second number is pounds of tension on the forestay. Lastly the tension in pounds on the shrouds.
1/4 8200 1300 850
9/32 9900 1500 1000
But you cannot measure the forestay because of the furler. My H37C doesn't even have a wire in the forestay. So I guess you measure at the backstay.
