I see several of you have covered the walls on the forward cabin with wood. I just removed all the nasty, smelly fabric off the wall and have found a hollow reinforcement glass rib at the bottom were I can attach the panelling to. However, there is nothing but 1/2 hull glass at the top. Did you make a rib and glass it in order to screw the panelling or is the panelling just stuck between the deck and hull, were the toe rails bolts are located.

Thanks.

P.S. By the way. The best two tools I have used so far have been a Dremell multi-tool and a screw extractor system.

I felt the Fein was overpriced at over 300.00 so a Dremel multi- tool at 99.00 was worth a try. I love it. I removed all the wall fabric, including the rotted foam, with the chisel. Just like skinning a deer. In no time at all. It also cuts where other tools cannot get into. My second best tool has been the new screw extractor system. You dimple the screw head with the drill part and remove it with the reverse thread bit. It has worked every time. I had about 40 stripped screws and every one came out without a problem. A bargain at 18.00 at Lowes.

I have studied the idea but not yet undertaken the project. I still have the "nice" original carpet. Isn't there a photo project in the "Hunter Owner's Modification" site above?

When I do it I will glass in vertical stringers. Then I will use sheet insulation between the stringers. So what kind of wood and thickness are fellow 37C owners using?

On my Hunter 30 I fiberglassed plywood ribs (1" wide x 3/4" thick) vertically about 1 foot apart directly to the side of the hull. I then screwed ash boards (3" wide) horizontally to finish off the interior of the boat.

Thank you all for your input.

Looks like I will be glassing some ribs. I do like the idea of placing foam board insulation between the hull and the interior. My hull is dark green and you can feel the heat radiating from the hull while working inside. Although 3/4 foam with foil is about R-3, it is better than nothing.
I am leaning towards using 1/4 plywood with white melamine finish and mahogany battens running horizontally. My second choice would be teak tongue and groove 2 3/4 boards. It all depends on the budget.
