Could it be related to the Texas chainplate failure? See link.

What is the Texas Chain Plate failure

I never heard of it before. I am a current Hunter owner and thinking about moving up. I am a little concerned about the B&R rigs!

Jim, it was ....

A recall that Hunter did. Keep in mind that the rig on your 28 is a Bergstrum rig (I believe and will be corrected if I'm wrong), which is the forerunner to the B+R. I moved up from a 91 H28 to a 2000 320 and love the B+R rig, makes many things much easier and the boat actually sails better. It is actually easier to single hand than my 28. In addition, I have had the 320 out in stronger wind conditions than I experienced with the 28 and at no time was concerned about the rig. As far as the rig, as with anything, if you don't maintain it it will break, I don't care what the rig was. Regards. Bruce. Neon Moon Bruce.

It was a failure related to chainplate design,

not the B&R rig. Check the link (hope it works) and draw your own conclusions.
