With the refrigeration unit being both fan cooled as well as sea water cooled, is it possible to shut off the sea water pump when at anchor @ night

Possible, but it may not be cold.

Our experience with the same unit is that without the water cooling, the unit is very inefficient. The water pump make too much noise, but really makes a difference in performance. Make sure to plug the drainage hole and check the hole where the cooling lines enter the icebok. Mine was way to big and not sealed at all. Performance improved when I sealed it with spray foam insulation.RREggeS/V Allie Kat

ventillation

The problem, according to Adler Barbour tech support, is that there are no vents for the unit to expell the hot air. They said the water pump should only be needed if the ambient temp went above the mid 90's. Kind of easy to do with out vents around the unit. The common solutions are: Plug your drain hole, improve the insullation. To that I'm going to add a 12 volt computer fan and a vent. Should draw less power than the water pump and be quieter.Has anyone else added ventillation for the refridgeration?Scott

Never used the water cooling on mine

I've never used the water cooling feature on my Adler Barbour. I am in Southern California and the outside air temperature rarely gets above 80 degrees here and the water temp rarely about about 72. I run the fridge 24/7 and even then the cooling fan on the unit might kick on every 5 or 6 hours if the fridge is being opened and closed a lot. The cooling fan is thermostatically controlled. My fridge stays at about 36 degrees and the freezer at about 28 or 29. It doesn't seem to use an excessive amount of power. I would think being as far north as BC you wouldn't need the water pump, particularly at night while you're asleep and no one is accessing the fridge.
