Hi. Id like to replace the original push button switch for our powered winch (fortunate to have to lift that heavy main).
I have a winlass switch which fits fine but im not sure how to replace. The winch motor has three wires from the motor to the switch whereas
the winlass switch only has two. Anyone know wich two of the three wires im to use?
Thanks
Phil

have you not been able to identify what electric winch make/model you have and search the internet for a wiring diagram?

Two speed winches turn in different directions to get to the different speeds. The motor has 3 posts, one DC Negative and two Positives. The direction winch turns depends on which positive post is getting power and therefore whether the winch is in the low or high speed.

You'll need an appropriate switch for the winch and a copy of the wiring diagram. The winch installation manual should have that.

Thanks. When I get back to the boat I'll check the manual for info.
The winch only has one speed in use as its just a push button.
